The Kimberleys
The Kimberleys, Isobel Morris & Jim Kimberley

Multi-instrumental duo Isobel and Jim have appeared at various Folk Festivals.  They released their first album in June 2018, a collection of traditional folk songs from the British Isles.  Their Tam Lin is spectacular!
Their honest arrangements, exceptional musicianship and glorious familial harmonies combine to make an impact much greater than their two piece line up.

Singers & Musicians Night
An opportunity for singers and instrumentalists (or both) to perform their songs and or tunes to an audience.

Hello Everyone,

It is with great regret that our guest for the 19th March, “TRU” have had to cancel their appearance at Orpington Folk Club.

The Coronavirus situation in Ireland has escalated and gigs here in the UK have been cancelled, they are also being advised not to travel abroad by the government

Their hand has been forced, and it has made it impossible for them to go ahead with the tour.

A Singers & Musicians Night will take its place instead.

TRU
TRU

The trú was a mythological trio of poet-musicians in ancient Ulster.  They were revered throughout ancient Ireland, some believing their songs and stories came to them from the future. Others maintained that the trú were possessed by spirits during performance. As such, they were considered gatekeepers to the Otherworld.

It’s here where Northern Irish trio ‘TRÚ’ draw their inspiration. The band’s song selection relies on the melodic and lyrical calibre of songs that stand the test of time.  With contemporaries like Ye Vagabonds, Lankum and Lisa O'Neill, there is a sense that these old songs are inspiring something that will last.

Dónal Kearney, Zach Trouton and Michael Mormecha are all seasoned artists in their own right, united by a passionate appreciation of the material they perform.  Their mesmerising live show has exposed TRÚ’s performance skills, the craft of their arrangements and the sheer power of their storytelling.  There is nothing traditional about TRÚ except the songs themselves.

As from 19th March Orpington Folk Club will not be meeting
We will be back as soon as possible.

Hi All,

Government advice on the Coronavirus has been updated to include pubs, clubs and even small gatherings. Therefore Orpington Folk Club organisers have decided to cancel all future events until April when we will review the situation. We are sorry to have to do this but we would be mortified if someone became very ill after visiting the club.

Best wishes to all and above all stay well.

Us @ OFC.
