Bob Woollett a member of Orpington Folk Club since its formation in 1965 died on Sunday 6th August 2006 at home.

Bob was born in Farnborough on 18th Dec 1948.   He went to Farnborough village school and he was a church choirboy at St. Giles' Farnborough. His parents were Raymond and Ethel and he had one sister, Carol.  It was at the Orpington Folk Club that Bob met Janet his wife and they were married in 1974.

Bob was quite a character he and his gentle warbling voice will be greatly missed.

Message from Sue Tuckey has been keeping us informed about Bob.  As some of you already know, Bob lost his fight with cancer last Sunday.  There will be a service celebrating his life on Friday September 1st at Chislehurst Methodist Church, Prince Imperial Road, at 3.30.  I suggest no flowers, but send a donation to Harris Hospice or Marie Curie who will also benefit from a tribute evening at Friday Folk on December 29th.

Sue Tuckey.

One of Bob's great loves in life was Folk Music.  He was a member of Orpington Folk Club since its formation in 1965 and again members of the club are here today.  Later in the year on December 29th his friends at Friday Folk have organised a tribute evening and the proceeds of the event will benefit Harris Hospice.  Bob helped run and organise, Friday Folk at the Liberal Club, Station Road, for the last twenty years. At one time he belonged to a folk group called Mabel Joy Quartet.  Later on he was also with Doug Field a duo called 'Men Behaving Baldly!  His favourite songs were, The Alamo, Gold Watch Blues and Sweet Sixteen which he would sing as often as possible.
